Does your SOHC have a name?
« on: May 14, 2007, 11:47:35 AM »
My '75 550K is named Cassandra.  When I began working on her, I nicknamed her Sassy for short.  I call her Sassy when she is a pain in the butt, testy, or tempermental.  When she purrs like a kitten, and gives me an excellent ride, she is Cassandra.

She also has a middle and last name.  Her middle name is SEE and her last name is ME.  I commonly utter these words when car or truck drivers appear to not pay attention, are talking on the phone, or look like they are going to pull out right in front of us (Cassandra & me).  It's more like a repetitive chant I say as I approach the inattentive driver: "See me, see me, see me, see me......"

Please share your SOHC's name and how the name originated.  Does he/she have a middle/last name?

Daisy...
Heck, i name my bicycles too.... Ok only the ones i put a lot of time into.

I tell my wife i'm off to get intimate with daisy, and you should see the steam pour out of her ears... until she sees me walk into the garage.
:)

I like a girl I can ride hard, and leave her to cool off outside.
And she don't mind how many times i ride her in a day, or for how long, the longer the better IMO.  :o

Well my CB was to be named Roadwarrior but that never occured since it has since become the donor for the drag bike. While the Interceptor has earned the name Lone Wolf. This is due to the fact i mostly ride it on solo rides and because it stands out against the group of supersports i ride with. Much like a lone wolf stalking a herd.....

It's just the 750 now, but, with the 750 Ducati suppose to be getting here soon,
I may have to name one. Guess I'll call the Ducati, The Duck.

This topic came in the old greenspun forum. The one I liked more was "cebu", because somebody's daughter -I can't remember whom- said it remind her a cebu. It stuck in my mind, but I haven't named any of my vehicles.

I started calling my 550 'Keiko' after a Japanese girl I once knew.  Thought it would make my wife jealous.  ;D
My wife decided to be funny though - she calls her 'Yoko'! >:(

'76 400F: Christine (No jokes about demonically possessed machinery!)

'76 750F: Tiffany (could be permanent, unless I find a better name that describes your stereotypical "High-Maintenance B*tch" so well that you automatically know the bearer of said name is teh hawtnezz, and likely wild in the sack, but EXTREMELY high maintenance, fussy, b*tchy and expensive.  Other candidates include Candi, Heather, Fawn and Debbie.)

'75 CL360: Ramona (Fiancee named her.  We're big fans of The Ramones.)

'73 Hodaka Dirt Squirt: Kaylee ('Cause she's "shiny", get it?)

Soon-to-be 750 Cafe: PJ for Pamela Jayne

ALL my bikes are female, because I'd feel kinda queer ridin' around with a dude between my legs.  ;D ;D ;D

Sounds like me, my friends used to call my bikes the dino brigade I had the old 750's and older triumphs, while at the time they all rode two and three year old bikes, now mine, even Syb, are called classics by most people, and theirs are just old bikes. ;)

I named my 750 Carl, from Slingblade.  My garage resembled the shed Carl lived in as a child.  I call my bike and my son "little feller" all the time.
I farted and made my son cry.

A running collection requires names. So, you can quickly relay what bike you are going to ride to those who don't understand the differences in models.

Let's see, there is ol' Brownie. (The sun has bleached all the red out of the maroon paint.)
Then there is Ol' Bluie,
Orangie,
Blackie, and
Blorange (It still has the original orange side covers and a blue tank at this time, though I have a pristine Blue Tank and side covers destined for it.)  It may become Effie Blue (Cb550 F)

I have another in the works, t'will be "Wylde Chylde", as it will be a custom 550.

Cheers,
The 750's are both known as Queens, right now, as they haven't left the garage since I dragged them home.  One of them is destined to be "Prissie", as it will get NOS Tank, Seat assy., and side covers.

My other bikes are Cexie, and Nightie.

Lloyd... (SOHC4 #11 Original Mail List)
72 500, 74 550, 75 550K, 75 550F, 76 550F, 77 550F X2, 78 550K, 77 750F X2, 78 750F, 79CX500, 85 700SC, GL1100

Those that learn from history are doomed to repeat it by those that don't learn from history.

Most of the members here know Rita. They helped save her from getting sold many months ago. I almost always name my bikes but the day I bought her she was Rita, I love this bike and anthropomorphise her a bit much, but why not, she has a personality too, at least to me she does, lolol ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

My 750 is called Sage... And I am having a milled aluminum Egyptian Hieroglyph made saying same for the tank emblems.
