Longest distance you have gone on a Cafe?
« on: May 15, 2007, 12:06:53 AM »
Im in the process of getting ready to rebuild my 550 and am going to go ahead and tear the whole bike down to repaint, polish, and pretty things up.  I am leaning towards turning my bike into a Cafe and was at work today wondering the longest distance you have gone on them before.  I really like the Cafe look and am really excited to go in this direction as long as my engine is alright (well even if its not I'll find a newer one, but I'm pretty sure it's just rings). Let me know the distance..........................Chris

I've taken a good half hour cruise around the surrounding towns once on mine... Then again, now that it's legal, I'm tempted to take it for longer rides. :D

Actually, with the Americade rally coming up in a couple of weeks, my Brother might be riding it there if he can't get his bike running right before hand (Just won a newer set of carbs for him on ebay last night.)

My bike needs rearsets, though, to mke a bit more comfy for those longer rides. On the other hand, my regular ride is a Ducati Monster. I ride that thing pretty much 24/7. I think 460 miles was the longest day I've had in the saddle with that.

i could also use rear-sets... and some padding...
...and my other ride is also a Ducati Monster....  :P

I've gone around 400 miles in a day to and from. 1976 400F Super Sport with Cafe bars. I was kinda sore, but man what fun through the Delta area near Sacramento/Rio Vista Area..lots of swithbacks and twisties, not alot of cops either.fun.damn fun. Now i'm restoring a previously Cafe'd 500 Four with current mods & tires, should be a real fun & fast bike, the guy hopped up the motor back in the day with lots of Hipo goodies like wiseco pistons, megacycle cam, barnett clutch etc. It has Borrani rims also!
i'm doing the top end as we speak, painting the engine all black..as soon as i get some pix i'll post them
Later, DWYJ
I'm going to Cafe it
ONE DAY

In the middle of the cafe conversion, but with the clubmans on, two hours is the longest ride this spring.  It's not to bad if you can stay tucked while on the highway, but city driving or slow driving, for long periods, is harder on the body due to the riding position.
