« on: February 23, 2009, 10:49:04 PM »
i'm looking to buy a non titled cb500f, everything looks good but it doesn't have side covers, the tank has been repainted, and the exhaust is 2-into-1. the owner says it's a 1972 cb500f, but how do i know for sure? does it matter? where can i find the specs?

thanks

Honda didn't make a CB500F.  They made a CB500 four cylinder and a CB500T (twin), but no F model until the 75 CB550F.
The side cover emblem said 500 Four, with the "F" far larger than the rest of the letters.  I think this confused some people, possibly your seller.

Best bet is to get the frame and engine numbers and post them here.

A picture would make it real easy!

You say the exhaust is 2-1: that's a bit of a giveaway (unless it's a typo)
