OK all you GHOF's out there. Who knows anything about the 350cc single AJS Model 16MS? We've found a 1951 sitting forlornly in a garage, crying out to be put back on the road. I'm going to look at it this w/e...perhaps money will exchange hands, accompanied by loving whisperings in it's general direction that it is definately on the list for fettling.

        Oh Man, Nick, I don't know what shape that one is in but it definitely was quite the machine in it's day! Don't know if you know it but, AJS and Matchless were about the same. I would think that a good number of the parts would be interchangeable. I'd sure like to see the build on that one! Lots of luck!

Yes, they had quite the long production run, and with badge engineering there are two sources for parts. Part of me is excited at the 'find'; another part is trepiditious (sp?) because the Mistress is sitting on the motorcycle lift waiting to be put together and made road worthy.....and as we all know there is only so much time in the day to spend on motorcycle fettling.

Thank goodness Sophie is up and running for the season and purring like a kitten.

The two companies merged, along with several others, Francis Barrnet and James were two of them.
The parent company was called AMC, Associated Motor Cycles I think.
I think the other big name in there was Norton. I seem to recall a Matchless with the Commando motor being made for you lot
