I think your actions were sleezy. Your insulting me for pointing out that your posting was crass says quite a bit about your lack of ethics.

I don't think it's kosher for that guy to jump in here and start peddling wares. Not only is it crass, it's irrelevant to this thread. I'll be sure not to buy anything from him!

Irrelevant? Gee, and I thought this was a thread about sourcing aluminum refinishing. I also see several replies w/ commercial sources. I had no idea there were such sensitive souls out there that get bent out of shape so ez. And it wasn't even your thread to begin with. I'm a CB750 enthusiast and restorer with all sorts of knowledge and goodies. And I ain't crass; I'm from NY. We don't use words like that around here.
tsk, tsk, RSV12K, I'll bet you always raised your hand since kindergarten to tell on all those bad boys misbehaving in class.

After reading this thread and a few others I decided to give polishing a go... I went out and bought some 400, 800, 1000, and 2000 grit paper and 3 cotton buffing wheels (home depot didn't have any sisal) and 3 buffing compounds (a black, red, and white also at home depot) I also had some mothers alum polish laying around.  When I was done the wife said I looked like a chimney sweep, between the sanding and the buffing I was covered in black dust.  Here are the before and after shots... not perfect but a lot better than what I started with.

Nice job. Does it relly look gold or is that just the camera?

Polishing aluminum makes a great rainy day project...not only the first time you do it but six months or a year later when you re-do it.  ;D I still don't see how the experts on here get into all the nicks and crannies...like the ones in the valve cover lettering for instance.  ::)

I'm the one who moved the reply. It wasn't to be a stickler. We just try to keep things organized, particularly when it comes to someone trying to do a search in the future. I would think someone looking for parts or services may not bother to wade through the regular threads to find them but rather look through the appropriate areas.

Brilliant!!

On a side note, does anyone know where I can get a homemade version of the Dyna Ignition booster? You know, the one you use with your stock points? I've looked in the parts and services sections, but I can't find it. There's been alot of talk about it though.
