has anybody used TRW pistons? specs needed badly...
« on: May 10, 2007, 11:40:57 AM »
my machinist is finally back at my engine project, and needs clearance specs for my pistons. all of his TRW catalogs are for automobile pistons. anybody know what the clearances should be, or where to track them down?

here's what the boxes say:

"TRW L2424F 3.0MM

89 TRW HIGH PERFORMANCE"

these are 3mm overbore pistons intended for an SOHC cb750.

I dunno paul, but hope you get that thing running soon. Can't wait to see it. Decided which bike it's going in yet?
No.

no, but since i haven't built up another 550 for it to fit in, i'm thinking it's going in the runner. i might temporarily use the 650 frame for testing, as it's removable frame rail will facilitate easy engine removal.

Vroom, Vroom, KABOOM! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey, paulages! Did you buy pistons as kit with rings or you bought rings separately?

got the rings from hastings. cost more than the pistons, but the pistons were only $70 or something, so that's not necessarily so bad.

What was the part number for the rings? I have these same pistons, but need rings. Thanks, Jimmy.
