Operating Engine Temperature
« on: June 25, 2005, 06:21:03 AM »
I am thinking of getting and electrical engine temperature gauge that measures temperatures at the head. What is standard operating temperature in comfortable weather - not icy mornings in winter or desert runs in mid summer! Is there any information on the web or in someones brain bank can help me?

Here's previous post that mentions installation of an oil temp guage if you scroll down some. It might be a more stable way to measure engine temps than a head temp guage.. though I have to admit I've no experience with either.

...just another option for you, go to Wallie World or Target and get a hot Oil Thermometer.  It will be in the cooking section, its used to measure oil temps for deep fryers, goes up to 400 degrees.  I picked one up for 3 bucks.  I drop it in the oil tank every now and again and get a reading.  Its usually anywhere from 150-200 degrees...
