I just tapped into the black/white coil wire for the Dynas I've installed on my 750 and my 550. Both bikes work fine.

Ditto.  The black & white coil wire worked just fine for my install.

Ok a little more . Got to ride to work today finally! Bike starts cold a bit easier. It does not cough or pop from being too rich like it did before. Stronger spark and all! Running even when cold is smoother. After about 1.5 miles, I can remove the choke, runs rich remember. Got onto the interstate and opened er up. Accel was very smooth, didnt sound quite as harsh. Roads were still wet from last night rain so I didnt push it hard. Idle when warm is smoother and when cracking the throttle at higher speeds, most of my hesitation is gone and the rest will be cured when I get time to adjust the idle mix.  Another HUGE bonus, NO POINT NOISE!!!!! I never really realized how loud those things were even when new!

This is with the stock coils yet!

Sounds like you had the same religious experience I had... ;D

Thank you for the information, Gordon.
My box tells me that it is a Ds1-2, but probably they make a mistake with the wrong rotor during packaging.
I will contact them in order to exchange the rotor.

thanks again,

Yeah it was even more religious this morning with temps in the 40s! Pull bike out of garage. Turn on fuel and ignition, hit starter and it fired up like the engine was warm on a 80 degree day!!!! Warm up to run with no choke was maybe 2 miles. I could almost kick myself for not getting one sooner but then I remember I could not afford one before! ;)

Just a quick chime-in. Aerostitch has a posilock "T" connector that works perfectly for the red wire dyna hook up.
Much better, more durable than the blue plastic one that comes with it. Just another option.

A smidge off topic here and more or less a thread jack:

I JUST installed the Dyna S ignition and coils on my CB400F. The idle is very smooth. Power is very flat up top, say after 5000RPM. I know it has something to do with the sync and A/F ratio. I'll have to sort that out.

I hooked everything up via Dyna's instructions and timed the bike to the advanced marks. I noticed that:
My bike isn't really holding a charge anymore. I had to push start it a few times today. I took a measurement at the battery before and after the install: 12.5V before and 10.7V after. What gives?

When I turn the power off to the bike (not the kill switch but the aux) the engine will make a 'pop' noise as if the coil fired a spark or something. What gives?

Aloha,
Brandon
