British Superbikes at Snetterton
« on: May 21, 2007, 02:43:53 PM »
For all the Brits or anyone that might be intrested.

Yesterday saw the Snetterton circuit play host to a round of the British Superbike Championship.

Although the meeting was televised, the video link that follows is what the veiwers didn't see.

The Super bikes come onto the long back straight around 70 to 80mph, the fastest through the speed trap on the straight was the factory Ducati of Leon Haslam at 177mph.

In the lunch break a few of my mates tried to better Leons speed, but from a standing start on Super street bikes.

Enjoy the video, screened tonight on the BBC Look East news program.

Thanks for that, Sam. And he didn't even get into a really tight racing tuck!

Thanks for that Sam, watched the BSB from Snetterton on TV and really enjoyed it, went to the Oulton Park round as well and boy have things changed, the last time I went to a race meeting was in the late 70's, the number of cars verses bikes has certainly changed, so many cars and so few bikes plus everything is so organised now.
Cheers

Hi Dennis, I agree with your observations of Oulton Park.
I was there a week last Saturday for a big Classic and Vintage meeting, there was hardly any spectators there.
I can remember back to the early 60s, if you wer'nt in for 7am you would'nt get a veiwing spot on the outside of Old Hall corner.
I used to cycle there from Warrington (20miles) had to start out at 4.30am as it was uphill all the way ;D
At times, you could be queing for an hour to get in,..even longer to get out.
I think it's the cost to get in that puts people off, although I got in for £8 last week, she thought I was a AOP ;D ;D ;D the beauty of being an old fart ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for that, Sam. And he didn't even get into a really tight racing tuck!

Nick, the track was so bumpy and crosswind so bad he had a job riding it in a straight line.
I have a pic of it crossed up at over 200mph if I can post it.

You can see it here    http://www.200mph.net/smf/index.php?topic=51474.60#bot

Nice. With that power and fairing area bumps and cross winds can kill you.
