grab rail.... but from what?
« on: September 26, 2010, 07:01:36 AM »
I bought this of eBay as a "350F grabrail."  It dos not apear to be.  My 350Fs grabrails have a distinct inward bend in the area circled in black in the second photo.  Also, the part that mounts to the shock mounts are not completely enclosed like that.  They are split.  It also doesn't fit my 550 frame.  Anyone have an idea of what it's from?

Huh. I did some research when looking at a grab rail like that and all I could come up with was it was a cb500/550 piece. Is your 550 frame an F model?

Looks exactly like the rail from my '73 500.

+1 for a cb500f grab bar looks just like the one I picked off a 12/72 build date for mine, which has the same tag date but did not have a grab bar. Turn signals mount to it as far as I can tell.

to 736........They are all interchangable........but not the same.  The 750K4 and newer units have an extra tab or flange on the back edge of the turn-signal mounts.

Sees really tight on my 550K frame.  When I tighten down the bolts that attach to the shock mounts it really squeezes the back of the frame.  It seemed to fit better on my 750 so I guess I'll use it there...
