This last weekend I got the chance to spend some time on a 2006 decked out Hyabusa, it was stretched and lowered with a shaved seat, it had a titanium pipe, NOS and an air shifter.
First of all being a short fella I loved the lowered part, but if you are over 5' 8" this bike was not for you. It was the first fuel injected bike I ever rode and all I can say is WOW that's smooth. I didn't much care for the lengthen swing arm, the bike was sluggish in to the turns.
Being my wife's cousins bike I took it pretty easy, at least till I was out of ear shot. As I rode the bike longer and harder I kept expecting it to do something amazing, But I rode it harder, twisted the throttle farther, and still, just smooth, very fast, but smooth.
Riding the bike around a local country club I came up on a couple corners going much faster than I expected, and still very well behaved. I was almost disappointed, I was expecting a beast, an unruly barbarian of a motorcycle, but it was not.
My expectations of performance were based on the only fast bike I have in my garage and that is a 1990 zx 10 with 140ish jets, some work on the air box a Vance and Hinds SS exhaust.
I must say, I was very happy today, riding the old, cheap, beast to work. I think it would hold up well head to head, and for about $13,000 less and no full coverage ins.
