Sorry, but I couldn't help but chuckle a little at this.  Since this is a motorcycle forum, what do you reckon are the relative hazards presented by BB guns vs. motorcycles?  Which one is the most likely to get you maimed or killed?  Just looking for a little perspective on this.

Yeah but as well all know, the UK govt does nothing that makes sense!  OOOH OOOH lets ban BB guns!!! Yeah that will help a lot!!!

Ok now the sad part is that the US is heading that way too.

yes but a bike is a mode of transport and not specifically designed for killing/maiming. A gun - well it's only really a weapon!! Even if you only ever shoot at targets it's original designed purpose was killing whether people or animals, an air rifle is only a scaled down version of that design and can still kill, unfortunately it's poor domestic cats that seem to get the worst end of the air rifles here in the UK!

I used to fire .22 rifles and .556 rifles when I was in the cadet force as a teenager. I enjoyed it but I was thankful when they locked the rifles and ammo away. I couldn't even imagine owning such a thing. But i guess attitudes are somewhat different on the other side of the pond.... ;)

My intent wasn't to turn this into yet another gun thread.  It was just a observation on people's attitudes.  A BB gun is considered "bloody dangerous" and made illegal, yet motorcycles are demonstrably far more dangerous.  There are plenty of people out there ready and willing to see motorcycles banned.  It is this mindset that was the point of my comment.

I don't know where you expected this thread to go, so I apologize if I derailed it.  And yes, BBs can bounce around like little rubber balls.

 OUCH!

Haven't done that yet, but I'm beginning to think my girl doesn't like mirrors on her car. She's taken them off every car she's owned, gas station, bank, supermarket, drive through, it doesn't matter how well the try to hide those posts, she can hit anything.

Greg says it's illegal, 74cb750 says he was target shooting, is this a State thing and not a US law. ?

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Sam.  BB guns are legal in the U.S. and Idaho.  I was referring to Steve's statement that they were illegal in the UK.

Guns and motorcycles are both dangerous, I would think be it their own fault or not, more people get hurt by moyorcycles than guns.

I have been a semi pro racer and had only one accident, it was my choise to go racing and no other people got hurt.

I was a pro shooter and my son still is, Neither my son or myself has had a shooting accident.

Motorcycles and guns are no more dangerous than watching TV, it's down to the person useing them.

Greg, if they are illegal in the UK, nobody told me and all my guns were inspected for my licence renewal two weeks ago, my licence hasn't even come through yet, thats how recent it was.
