ohm test for plug caps

I know plug caps go bad with time, but how does one test them? what resistance?

put the red prob in one end, put the black prob in the other... should read abot 5kohm's

5,000 ohms plus or minus 20% at room temperature. They are $3.25 each for replacement caps. Unscrew the cap from the wire & stick a ohms meter probe lead in each end of the cap.
