Topic: CB400f rear tire size - Metzeler Lasertec: 4.00 = 110-90 ?

I am planning on using Metzeler Lasertec.

I have decided to get these sizes for the front and rear
Front:  100-90-V18
Rear:   110-90-V18

Metzeler lists this rear tire on their website:  110/90-18M/CTL 61H LASER

Americanmototire and all the other I have found list these lasertec sizes;

a. 130-80-V18
b. 130-70-V18
c. 120-90-V18
d. 4.00-V18

Is the 4.00-V18 the same size as the 110-90-V18?  I mean it seems pretty logical but I cannot find definative proof. 

I called someone at www.tiresunlimited.com and they said the 4.00 was a 120 so now I am confused again.

Trying to find the proper sized tires is the most frustrating thing I have ever done in my life.

I believe the "V" is the speed rating. Don't pay for more speed rating than necessary. In this instance, unless you are planning to ride at 149 mph, seems like you would be paying a premium.

So from this chart, i can assume that the 4.00V18 is going to be around a 100-90 is you regress the table? 

That would be the same size as the front tire (except for the fact the front tires have a different number scale; ie. 100-90-V18 front is the the same size as 100-90-V18).  I would toss my monitor out the window right now if it wouldn't get me fired.

Why is it different for the front tire?

What is the second number in the inch column (a range)?

Does the 'inch' number refer to the tire width or the rim width?
