Help: Anybody knows where this washer goes
« on: May 26, 2007, 08:53:53 PM »
I was finally able to make some progress on my project bike. I assembled the cases and internals, then when cleaning up I found this thrust washer.

It looks like it goes on the starter drive gear 'cause it fits the shaft but the wear pattern on it doesn't seem to match.

Anyway, I just hope I don't need to crack the cases again. It's a '71 CB750.

my 76 750F has a disc just like that on the outside of the starter gear.
I am sure that is not what you want to hear :)

So, is it located between the gear and the alternator cover? Or between the gear and the engine case?

Thanks

Here's a parts diagram showing how the starter gear and washer assemble
