Hope you have a speedy recovery!

My knees are bad as well.  The last time I paid a visit to my orthopedic doctor, I was waiting for x-ray results when I heard him outside say, "Oh my god!  Guys, come look at this!"  Let's just say my knees don't belong to a 32-year-old.

How is your right knee doing?  I asked my doctor about arthro and he said to wait until I'm 50 for a TKR.  He said that if I got it done now I would probably need it again in two years.

It's a sign of old age coming on Mick ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

My son went in to have his tonsills out this morning, he's done and OK, should keep him quiet for a while. :D

Get well soon Mick.

Mick,

You don't have to be an old to have bad knees.  I've had 4 knee surgeries in the last 9 years starting when I was 16.  3 scopes for cartilage tears and then recently they fixed my ACL.  I wish you a quick and speedy recovery.

Spot on Mike, my son Mike that has just had his tonsills out at 40,  had cartilage opps on both knees, one in his late teens the other in his mid twenties.
He is now fighting fit in Her Majesty's Armed forces.

Mick just take your supplements and avoid high impact activities to the knees. I lost half a kneecap over 30 years ago, they told me It would be frozen arthritis by time I was 50. Well spent all day squatting down working on my fork seals and other items. A bit sore today, but I will be fine tomorrow. The Doctors only deal with the average, not the SOHC rider. Heal well.

Isn't it great now that you've had them both done?! I had both mine done 2 & 1/2 years ago at the same time. The next day something felt funny when I descended the stairs. No pain!! Had almost forgotten what that was like! As far as glucosamine goes, the jury is/will still be out on it. Some research says it is beneficial and some says it is not. There is also chondroitin and MSM. Same conclusions. When I'm asked about these products I always provide that info and recommend that a combination of all 3 be used but go on to say that it sure won't hurt anything but your billfold to try them and to not make a judgement call until you have used it at the maximum dose for 6 full weeks. If they work for you thats great but they won't work for all.
