Good day from Ontario!
« on: April 25, 2007, 02:27:53 AM »
Good day all, I would first like to thank everyone on this forum for all the help they didn't even know they gave me. You guys helped get me up and running. The Knowledge here is amazing!
I am on my second '81 650 custom of the year. I got my first earlier this year and spent the winter fixing it up. I dropped it two weeks ago :'( Luckily I am bck up and running on another '81 650 custom with little more than a hurt pride. I just got into bikes this year and liked the looks of the old CB's. The question was what year to get? I figured I would pick one as old as I am so 1981 it was. I chose the 650 because , one, it was what i could find, second, it is a great starter bike. I went into it with little knowledge of bikes, and had never rode one in my life. I love it! In my job I work on the latest technology highway trucks (Volvo Trucks) where everything is big, heavy, and overly complicated. My bike is small, light and I could fix it with rubber band if needed. Working on my car is a chore and reminds me of work. Working on the bike is second best to riding it, and there is nothing I would rather be doing. Greetings from Dundas Ontario Canada! BTW, the first 650 was complete. I am not looking to activly part it out but if you are stuck looking for a hard to find part, I just may let it go.

Welcome from Oshawa Ontario! Ever out this way let me know and we can go for a rip...admittedly my 78 850k isn't roadworthy but if you don't mind being seen with a guy on a CBR we could tear it up...

Wow, we have an official Canuk now. ;-)  Welcome, and I agree with you in that I like working with something that doesn't have a computer and is not overly complicated.

Welcome Canuck - always good to see another Canadian here :)   and Dennis - any Canuck who uses the term ice hockey could never be considered for the 'Official Canuck' title  ;) ;D

But then on second thought - maybe that was intended for the nonCanadians who don't know there is only one real kind of hockey - that  would have been a very Canadian thing to do ;D

Ofcourse that was my intent...you know us Canadians are always trying to be polite and I wouldn't want to assume that the gentleman would know what sport I was referring to...besides it always cracks me up that when I am down in Fla every year the only way they refer to hockey is by calling it ice hockey

I was going to say something about being a Toronto Rock fan and our National Sport being Lacrosse but figured it was safer to go the more stereotypical route...  ;)
