Thanks all. Managed to get some better pics outside while riding. We seem to be into a string of nice riding days that are competing with the to-do list. ;) I tell Mary it's important that I get some riding in to ensure the paint is dry. ;D

Mental note:
Tell the wife it's important that I get some riding in to ensure the paint is dry.  ROFL!

Just finished up my paint this weekend.  Still have wet sanding and polishing to do but after that I'll need a reason to get it out of the garage.

Bob -

Wow!  That looks fantastic.  Its great to to see the bike that started my lust for SOHC knowledge turn out so stunning!  I have Don's Kit for my Candy Gold K0 and I can only hope my results will be 1/2 as good.

Greenjeans -

Its Don's Paint kits - look in FAQ under suppliers, he has a web site now.  I think our cohorts results speak to the quality of them.

Thanks again, all. I just returned from my third straight day of riding. I better take a day or so off and get some things done, or Mary is going to take my key away. ::) In the past three days I have found the paint job to be quite the ice breaker. After getting her cleaned-up and back on the road a few years ago, when I stopped for gas or something, someone would occasionally comment on it, as in what year is that? How old is it? Maybe a "pretty clean for its age." Every time I stopped these past three days someone, sometimes two would walk up and start a converstation about them, how they had one like it (K-series) years ago. Of course they were all GHOF like me. ;D

Absolutely gorgeous, was at a race meeting last week looking at lots of modern bikes, they may be faster, brake better, but most of them look like plastic bubbles, when you can see an engine it looks like a central heating boiler gone wrong. Nothing beats the old bikes for looks and style.

Cheers

The feedback is very flattering. However, I don't want anyone to get the impression she's show quality. The paint and painter, did fantastic work. All I contributed was some $$. ;) The rest of her, perdictably, still qualifies for the ten foot rule. It just doesn't show in the pics. Then again, the remaining flaws will provide many a winter's project.. oh, and a little more $$.  ;D

I am biased...I think red is just the most eye catching color.  Now Bob, just take that bike to an old car cruise and see the attention it gets. Those old cruisers are also old motorcyclists.  ;D

Looks great Bob!!!! Your painter did a fine job and I think you got a fair price. $800 for all the extra parts that aren't on the newer bikes (headlite ears, airbox, etc.) plus the tank striping sounds reasonable to me if it is a Quality job and yours looks to be just that!!!.....Enjoy!!!!!!
