Removing sprocket cover on 78 750K
« on: May 31, 2007, 01:51:50 AM »
Can this be done without removing the shift cover?  Last time I removed both covers; but it's a bit more of a pain, and I don't want to fiddle with my shift.

Thanks!

On my K1 the sprocket cover will come off without removing anything else.  Give it a try and find out.

Now go back to bed! ;D ;D

as said, it has to be positioned just right. Originally my k8 had aftermarket crashbars and consequently someone had replace 2 sets of motor mounts with some undersized ready rod. This allowed the motor to shift back some and thus the sprocket cover would not come off at all without removal of the chain first. Once I installed the proper motor mount bolts it can be removed.

Like Shoeman said. As I recall, you have to angle the left side up and the bottom out, sort of tilting it. Takes some maneuvering, but it works.

A couple of center punch marks on the shifter and shaft?
