Aftermarket tachs and speedos
« on: June 04, 2007, 03:59:47 AM »
Someone a while back posted a source for a nice looking set of aftermarket electronic
speedo and tachs. Anyone save this link cause I seem to have lost it? Thanks.

Google 'acwells' - they make a single electronic unit that sells for $120 I think that does everything.

On my Guzzi I use a speedo for a bicycle. It goes up to 300 KM/H and can be calibrated to exact diameter of the wheel. It's also cordless, so I can even wear it as a watch. I forgot the brand but I can look it up if anyone's interested.
If you like clean handlebars for a caferacer this is a good option IMO.

I'm using a bicycle speedo ($9.99 wired version) and an electronic 10K RPM tach from Summit ($35).  I'm still doing some metal work on the triple tree to get everything mounted cleanly.  Here's a quick shot right after I started.  These things basically disappear unless you're looking for them.

Did you get those billet preloaded adjusters from the 400fourstore.com???

How are those things working??

If you look at Dougs ride, you will see what he used. There not wireless but they do give the bike a different look!

I personally was trying to fit the complete dash from a VF500 interceptor, but it was too much work.

And to do it the right way, it required CNC machined brackets which cost a lot of $$$$$.

Best of luck

Thanks for the link tintin. I like those when I saw them the first time around but I'm beginning to think
I'd like to separate units that match.  Tach and Speedo that looks close to original.

Yes they're from ttr400/400fourstore.  Very, very well made.  I haven't ridden on them yet as my "since I already have the bike apart" list is growing, but according to my calculations they should add about 6 horsepower and make me more attractive to women.

If you want smaller but still want separate analog gauges, some guys are using the ones from JC Whitney.  They're about half the size of the stock units.
