My new chopper
« on: June 04, 2007, 07:26:16 AM »
Well, I finally succumbed to the cruiser/chopper craze. I didn’t think I’d ever do it, but I want to be unique, a lone wolf, a rebel, just like everybody else.

I picked up this old girl for the right price as she’s been laid down a few times. A little road rash, but nothing that can’t be fixed – broken lights, brake levers, etc. She’s not running, but the engine’s not locked so there’s hope. Haven’t decided if I’m going to keep the “ape hanger” bars (they’re not quite tall enough).

I think the biggest expense is going to be the black leather jacket, chaps, boots, vest, bandana (requisite head protection), sunglasses, wallet chain, underwear, codpiece, keychain, etc. that I’ll have to have in order to fit in with all the other unique, lone-wolf, rebels.

Here are some pics:

OK, in all seriousness, I picked this up from a neighbor who was tossing it out. I figure I'll tinker with it a bit, see if i can get it running. Anybody else have one of these or know anything about them?

I vote to either cafe the thing with clipons etc. or stretch the swingarm and turn it into a drag bike.

Rip out the plastic 'engine' covers and dig into the 50cc engine.  If my wife's Vino is any measure, you should be able to make that thing SCARY fast with a little work.

I'm diggin' the big fattie rear tire(s)!  Now all you need to do is grow a big shaggy beard and find your local Hell's Angels chapter and your set.   ;D

It's one of these: http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/subpages/apc_mini_choppers.htm  ;D

It's a silly little thing, especially with my 6'3", 300lb self sitting on it, but I'm fascinated with anything with an engine. Especially in miniature! I want to tinker with it, see if I can get it going without spending too much money on it. Then I'll probably give it to my kids. Maybe.  ::) :D

Rushoid u sound like me.  I was on my way over to a friends house the other month when I noticed that someone was throwing away one of those kids electric scooters with the seats on them.  I pulled over and threw it in my trunk.  Got it to my friends house and began pondering what we could do with it.  It still worked but the batteries were shot, so we striped it down and figured that we could strap a chainsaw engine to it.  Went to this guy I know that does small engine repair and picked up an old McCoullough chainsaw for $20.  The solid state module is bad on it but that is on its way.  This chainsaw motor is one of the biggest I have ever seem, I am guessing it is about 67-72cc or sopmewhere in the area, so we are figureing that the thing will more than likely get up to about 40Mph once we get it all said and done.  I'll post pics when we are finished.  Man I love messing with crap like this, keeps me feeling young.......................Chris

Yeah, see, I never find stuff like this. I always hear about other people finding things that they can tinker with, so I'm pretty excited about digging into it. It's just something to occupy my brain and have a little fun with. I like bringing things back from the dead that people thought were junk. Like my 750. After getting it going, I'll think about customizing it.  ;) :D

Restore be damned, there's still plenty of life left in the old girl as she stands 8)

Besides, my 5 year old niece will be learning to ride on it soon, and it's bound to get a bit more of a battering yet ;D

Hey, check out these contraptions... september 1st we're on again. Lots of fun and loads of beer!! :-*
First is a bumper card from a fancy fair with a build in four cilinder car motor.
Second is a push cart, don't know what kind of engine but appeared to be lawn mowerish.
Third is a Roman Chariot bike with a trailer. They even had a trailer with a hammock suspended between two posts and a girl "lounging" in it in a sort of bikini (no helmet).... It crashed!
Fun fun fun...
