I didn't need to have mine appraised.  NB instead of ON.  But mine does cover up to $1/2 a million

in WA, still don't have any...(I know it's a stupid idea not to have any, knock on wood!) it's not required and I'm too cheap (plus I'm about to do a engine tear-down) Maybe when I start riding it daily again I will ante up!

It depends on the state government. Here is Massachusetts, we have No-Fault which = high costs.

No insurance and DMV (RMV in Mass) will not give you a licence plate

I have two CB750s (K1 and K5) with nothing but liability and they cost $220 each or $440 total.

They don't give multiple vehicle discounts for multiple motorcycles. They charge PIP (personal injury protection) on your policy but you don't get it (sounds like mafia protection money). You must have health insurance or you are screwed.

Most states give discount for antique plates on the bike. Here, you pay full price so why bother since antique plates restrict how much you can use the bike.

Bottom line is that we are looking legalized extortion.

$81 a year through Geico, just liability.  Not bad considering I just got 2 tickets (in my car) within a span of 2 months, after a 10 year dry spell.  This is in Austin, TX on a '73 750K3.  I'm 33.  I was taken aback by how cheap it was, but I wasn't going to say anything.  Bloodsuckers, the lot of them.

Geico wanted me to pay just under 300 for basic liability.  I went through Markel and got it for 150.

Wonder why Geico is so cheap for some (like Skonnie and me) and expensive for others?

The difference in Geico prices may be whether they think you are a caveman or not?

Government insurance with a "Collector" plate about $400 a year with theft and collision insurance valuing the bike at $5000 - probably low value. An  old, classic owner too.

In Orlando, Fl., I'm paying 88 bucks each for 100/300,000 on the CB's. For the CBR F4I, I am paying 116 bucks for 100/300 and 500 deductible comprehensive....which I got mainly for theft coverage. All per year with State Farm. Maybe being 63 with a clean record helps.

Funny that the liability for the CBR is cheaper then the CB's ...$78 vs. $88.....huh.  ???

Maybe I should have added that for my ST1100 it's $1400 a year which includes a 40% discount for a clean driving record. Not cheap!
