Hey guys, after sifting through the FAQ and a couple of model guides, I haven't been able to find the bike my 16" wheel belongs to. I'm riding a 75 550F and recently replaced the tire on its 16" rim. Other than its diameter and the large size of the drum, it appears identical to the OEM wheel.

While the wheel was being balanced the tech noticed it had severe radial run-out and a broken spoke. I've procrastinated with replacing the spoke and attempting to true the rim until now because I planned to just find another 18" wheel and ditch the 16 when I wore the tire down after the summer. However, now I have a flat, and since the bike is in the air anyway, I figure I'll just repair the little #$%*.

Now that you've read my irrelevant back-story, do any of you fine gentleman have ideas as to what bike this 16" came from? It might help me be sure to find the right spoke size. I'm assuming it's a HONDA, but I really don't have much history on the bike from the PO. Anything getting me in the right direction would be great.

Spanks!

It never was standard on anything. Somebody just laced a 16 inch rim onto the Honda hub
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Actually, I WOULD be willing to consider that. Especially if you had a good tire to trade with it. Beware, rim needs some true-ing, although I usually can't feel the runout I can see when I spin it. I prefer the look of the taller wheel.

Sorry, for the delay, working on getting them off the card, but I keep forgetting to bring it to work where I have the reader.

Thanks! I considered that as a possibility. There is still the issue of where the hub came from. I think it may be a 750 hub, because it doesn't match the diagrams in the Clymer manual I have for the smaller bikes. Process of elimination says 750.

the 18 I have is in pretty sad shape too.  Probably worse than your 16.  I was thinking of using a 16 on my 550 chop/bob project.
