I know a lot of people look for some cheap bikes, tools, parts and etc.. Craigslist is a good place to find, but you guys should check on the for sale "FREE". I have found some good things there...whole motorcycles for free. Check the states near yours, the  guy may ship for you or you have friends there, just a ideia.
good hunting!
Ricardo.

I picked up my '73 CB500 (pictured in my avatar as it looked at purchase time) for $75.

It looks much different now, and the engine sounds great!

Why do I feel like it's my personal responsibility to to go buy this bike? Somebody help me out here, my girlfriend would KILL me and I've got too many(if that's possible) already.

Correct.  There are 1000's of potential girlfriends, but not very many classic CB's to go around.   ;D

I bought the '77 550F on Craigs (knoxville) after searching Chattanooga, Nashville, and Atlanta. All I found near Chattanooga were "builders".

Looking back, I paid about $500 too much since I knew little/nothing about 'em. This was before I found this Forum (which could have saved me some $). It's OK though. It's a pretty nice, orig and only had 12,000 on the clock. Really haven't totaled up my total expenditure to date (and likely wont)). And, until I want to sell it, it really doesn't matter.

Ain't these ol' 4-cyl's fun!

If you're doing a lot of online bike hunting, this is a site you need:

http://motorcycle.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?itm=&fil=

It's a tool that lets you search Craigslist, eBay, and Kijiji all at once, in a particular state or region of the country (you can also search Canada by province).  Just fill out the fields and hit go.  This is how I found my 550.

On the upper left the "Mash - Category Select" is a list of other things to search for.  I've recently been using it to look for tools.

Happy hunting,

Frankly you might want to think twice about marrying this woman if she has that much control over your finances and hobbies as a GF. Seriously! It only gets worse once the ring goes on,.

Somebody got a great deal on that bike.  I saw it an hour after he listed it at 1030p, and knew it wouldn't last thru the next day...bikes that nice don't usually sell for so cheap round these parts.  It might have even sold that night.

Both parties need to be completely and comfortably on the same page before committments are made. Please.  And that goes both ways. She's OK with your passions, motorcycles, and you are OK with hers. Which likely means kids, or not, in my case, and a house.

Yup, all women shop, its in the DNA. You've got to find one who shops at your level of tolerance or you will be miserable the rest of your life. Remember its your choice, and you do have a choice.

Of course we shop too, but it's for important stuff like bikes and parts.

Heh..I've bought 4 bikes and 3 cars off CL...and I ain't done yet...matter of fact, even tho you're not suppose to sell them on there, I bought an AK, 2 SKSs, a .58cal blackpowder rifle and a .36cal blackpowder pepperbox off CL too, all at very good prices. And a buncha ammo, and a compound bow and other campin stuff, gas grills, propane tanks... got a really nice set of studded mud & snows on rims for free for my Ranger, a nice set (50-60% tread) of all seasons for my mustang, again free..paid $70 for a nice little Ibanez bass like the one I already had, with a practice amp, sold it to the music store the next day for $150..CRAIGSLIST ROCKS!!!

Hopefully, you realize you have received some very good advice and "food for thought" here - above and beyond just motorcycles. 'Hope you took seriously, not that it's any of my business.

FWIW I always tell 'em, you can always run - til the last "I do"!! (I've seen a couple who did run, at the last minute. Later, they were very glad they ran.

CL used to be a really cool place to buy and sell stuff. I first started using it about 7 years ago here in Seattle. I bought and sold a few cars there. Lately though it's full of BS artists and people selling over-priced garbage. I went back to EBAY to buy and sell most of my stuff.

Typical case and point: Yesterday I called on a boat model that I am interested in. At $4500 it was a good deal if it was a decent shape. I've seen them sell for $6500 and sat for sale for a while at $8500. I called the guy and the first thing he says is "I forgot to mention in the article the motor doesn't work and may need a new one." WTF??? Now the boat is worth half of what he's asking without a running motor. Of course he won't budge he says he "Knows what it's worth" Good luck with that I expect to see this thing every week for a long time on CL. I run into this kind of crap more and more every year on CL.
