Topic: 1965 Honda S65

I have an opportunity to buy this Honda S65. The man said the bike has been in dry storage for 30 years. Is $275 a ridiculously low price or is just about in the ballpark? I know that this particular model isn't one of the more desirable ones from that era, but in this cosmetic condtion I am thinking what the hell!

He said the engine is locked up from sitting so long (but not seized)

Opinions?

not able to help with the value in the US but over here in the UK in my opinion that would be a bargain price even in £'s.
The engine is locked but not seized, that sounds like a contradiction.

My first 'legal' bike was one of those, but the British one with (mini) drag bars
 I found the front plates off it  few years ago, DJO 536 D, removed them when they were no longer legal requirement in Britain
 You can probably get a C70 piston in there if you need to.
 Oh, I think its pretty cheap.

Greg, I would only buy something like that if you are a collector or it has special meaning to you from your days growing up. My avitar bike is a red 1966 S90 and is quite special to me as one like it was my first real motorcycle at age 11. I'd had a minibike earlier, but this thing had a clutch and gears - man I was on "cloud 9". Even that said, riding it today is a joke. I'm 240 and my knees hit my hands when the bars are turned and it ain't nearly as fast and powerful as my imagination and memories thought it was. You'll never ride it more than to circulate the oil once in a while.

If you want it, I think it's a great price - just be sure you know why you're buying it.

If I do buy it, I am thinking I might get it all sorted out and then give it to my daughter as a graduation present. She starts her senior year in september.

Then again if she doesn't want it, I could sell it.

That's a decent price on it.

An S65 was my first bike....and I still have it!! My youngest son, age 24 lives in town and is riding it around to this day.
