CB650c 1980 choke linkage Q
« on: June 10, 2007, 09:49:56 AM »
Wanted to be thorough about the title so if it gets searched for, all the info's there... ;)

So I'm FINALLY re-racking my carbs, have them all together, but I have to admit, this choke linkage has me very, very lost.
I've included pics from the front and top, hoping that helps... I'm not sure how to wind the spring, etc.  It seems that if I only wind it 'once' it likes to warp etc, and come unhooked.  If I don't wind it, it doesn't even have enough tension to hold the choke linkage 'together- assuming I even have it set up right.  The pics in the clymer manual to me no good... (I say after peering at them, scanning them and blowing it up, etc etc...)

so here's my pic

The latter mostly to ask if it looks like I have the throttle linkage right, though moving it makes the throttle slides open/shut smoothly...

Any help is very, very welcome, guys :D

I'm looking at the manual for my '79, which may or may not have the same set up as your bike. It shows that the main choke spring is mounted with the two end hooks looping downwards and says "hook the choke relief spring to the choke shaft arm of the No.2 and 3 carburetors". That suggests that the only loading on the spring at rest is what is there to clip it in place.
