kerker exhaust help...
« on: December 03, 2009, 01:56:20 PM »
so the kerker that came on my bike has no end cap, and not much of a baffle to speak of. as you can see here...

so my question is is this part of the baffle? or does the baffle fit in to whats there? this is a old kerker setup 4-1 on a 73 cb500. and its loud as hell. any ideas?

about half the baffle is missing, cone shaped end cap too. Dynoman has all sorts of baffles to fit the kerker. http://www.dynoman.net/exhaust/baffles.html

thats what i thought :( the only issue i have is seperating the muffler from the header is going to require a telephone pole, truck, and some chain... basically its not coming off. and its in o.k. shape otherwise, id rather not beat it up trying to get it off...time to get creative with some perforated steel and an end cap! any one make there own baffle for the kerker?

Scroll down to the bottom.

ill take it... maybe... i think. since half the baffle is there and i cant get the f.er off, its time to get creative. i dont want quite, thats boring. just a little quiter. a drawing board and some funny green stuff should help come up with a way to "tone it down" as my neighbor says... much appreciated, what are you thinkin on the price? need any parts?

squirt the area where the megaphone is connected to the header with some wd-40 or pb blaster then run the bike till it gets up to operating temperature. it should be easier to remove that way. try turning it a but before trying to yank it off.

tried it... still wouldnt budge. not even the tiniest bit. this is a really old model kerker, no name plate , just kerker stamped onto the mounting plate. i have yet to see another like it. hence it is possible that they have been mated for 20+ years. i even strapped the header to the ceiling, hit it with a torch and hung from the muffler like a friggin monkey...
