 I just got done baking my cylinder block in the oven and, believe me, the "little woman" is P.O.'d!  ;D
they just have no sense of humor when it comes to these things.

The instructions on the paint can was to let it air dry for 24 to 48 hours and then bake it for 1 hour minimum at 200 deg. F.
I went for 1.5 hours. Funny thing is that it didn't really start to smell until 45 minutes or so into the process! Bot after that the VOC's really started to release from the finish and smell up the whole kitchen!  :o

I guess the whole point to this post is to let everyone know to turn on the fan and open the windows before doing this!

Hot Hemi Orange just doesn't smell good.

Tomorrow night I'll bake the lower forks! (She's working late tomorrow)  ;D

Nick, I don't have a digital camera but I'll do my best to get someone to snap a few pics for me when it's done or near done!

Purple engine de-greaser, very hot water and elbow grease! After thoroughly washed and dried I sprayed them with straight acetone out of an old paint gun to prep the surface.
Painted with engine paint, let air dry for a day or so and then baked them in the oven.
(old lady's still pi$$ed about that one)  :o :P ;)

Thanks for the info sounds a little risky though. I think I will build a ultra sonic tnak,I have several projects, for cleaning thoroughly.

Purple de-greaser works great to clean the cases but leaves residue.

Acetone and other more volatile solvents are sprayed daily in many industrial situations without incident.

So again, what's the problem?  ???

Oh, that's no problem. The only thing she uses the oven for is to hide dirty dishes that she doesn't want to wash!  :o :D I do all the cooking, she'd burn water if she tried to cook!  ;D ;)
