how much is this bike worth
« on: June 07, 2007, 07:42:52 AM »
I am thinking about getting rid of some bike stuff.  I have a completely stock 71 cb 350t. It is in extemely nice and indoor stored shape. 13xxx miles. runs rough needs carbs tuned and synched,  has new points but need adjusted.  It will need a new clutch pack because it is not shifting into gear when it was running.  Last and definitely not least It has no title just a bill of sale from the guy I bought it from.  it has been stored for at least 13 years so tires would also be need

I think I have a buyer but  I do not know what is a good fair price to sell it for?  I might have pics but I can tell you looks wise it is about an 8 out of 10.  Original seat no rips.  I could sell the parts and make a good deal of change but I would rather sell it to someone that wants to get this thing back on the road.

so again what would be a fair price?
thanks guys

Up here I would start at $2000, if there was no hurry to sell it. Down there.......don't know. But as always, if the big ticket items are there (tank, side panels, exhaust, seat) and original, who knows.

If in doubt contact the VJMC.

Do the legwork and get the title before you sell it if you want to get what it's actually worth.

hmmmmm....runs, but rough...needs carbs rebuilt likely, ignition work, at least a new clutch ( if I'm buying an engine that won't shift, I going to assume the worst and plan on splitting the cases and checking the tranny).  And to top it off, no title.   Around here, realistcally, you would probably be looking at $300-500 tops. Maybe a bit more from someone who was more interested in using the good parts of it to restore a running bike they had. YOu'd be better off and get more $$$ parting it out.
A good bike mechanic only needs two tools, WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move, but should, use the WD40. If it does move but shouldn't use the duct tape.

Yep, i wouldn't pay more than 500 bucks for an untitled bike that needs a new clutch. Around here, running cb350t's in tip top shape go for $1k.
No.

thanks guys I was thinking about 500 bucks in north west indiana.  I know if I spend the time to round up a title and get it running I would end up keeping it and right now I have way to many things in the garage that are running and I have no time for. getting the title;  I think will take to long though?  although If this guy that wants to buy the bike backs out I will probably get the title and get it running. I am still mulling over all my options I really would have a problem selling the pieces on such a nice bike.
if anyone has any other opinions I would be glad to read them

thanks again

500$ is the most I'd pay for a 350 twin & that'd be for a nice one with a title.  They can be found cheaper easy.  If you part it, you wont get much either - check out ebay & see the millions of cb350 items for little cost.  The low $$ factor is what makes em beautiful in my cheap eyes!

I had to get a title in MN & it took 2 weeks and about 25$ (I think).  No big deal.  I think I paid extra to rush it.

Can't be too far from ya if your in NW hoosierland. I'm in SW MI.  Really nice one's with a title and in running condition around here can run in the $800-$1200 range for a really cherry one. A ratty looking , but running one...$400-800 depending on degree of rattiness.

I'm in NE Indiana and without the title I would have to say its worth about  $400 if it looks really, really nice. Its not really a low mileage bike. There are lots of them with teen mileage. The title would double its value and syncing the carbs and the shifting issue may be very easily fixed.
I paid $150 for mine, with a title. I paid $550 for a 400f with no title but running.
I think I would be asking for $2000 for my 350 now, but thats after alot of work.

did you get a title for the 440f?  if so then what did you have to do and how difficult was it?  I am told it is a bill of sale and police check and take it to the dmv and you are do.  is that true?

thanks for the info by the way.  I think I will keep it and sell my other stuff like a dream and alot of 550 parts.  now I am off to take inventory.  again

later

I found a plate reciept and tracked to owner in OH, through some internet sluthing and phone calls. The gent was nice enough and sent a new title to me for about $10. This was an out of state title situation. I got really lucky. Within the state there is some kind of title search that must be run from Indy and it may take a while for them to do this.

thanks for the info.  this bike is an original IN.  bike according to the guy I bought it from.  He is trustworthy, as I have bought other bikes and stuff from him.  I guess now I just have to wait at the dmv for awhile and then patiently wait for the paper from Indy.

thanks again,
