Oil leak (haha, fixed it!) maybe it'll help others
« on: June 13, 2007, 08:57:18 AM »
So . .. everyones heard of the auto chain oil set up on early 750's,  hate it, spews oil everywhere. Thought that was the source of my massive oil leak dripping all over the chain and spraying over rear tire.  Tried everything, new rubber bumper, plug hole with bit of o-ring  yada yada. . . Finally figured it out!    There is a tube that hooks to the back of the engine/trans that runs to the oil tank. This little plastic rubber tube had a nice crack in it, dripping oil all over the swing arm, running into the front sprocket case and all over the chain.   Had to laugh,   hooked up a new line, no more leak.   Maybe this'll help others ?  Happy riding!

Well done! I discovered this little tube was important after having run 50 miles following re-assembly of bottom end and re-installing engine in frame (marathon 15hr day) without the little tube being connected. Needless to say when I stopped all that oil that was supposed to return to the dry sump was dumped all over the ground....scary!

cheers
Andy

Take measurements to your local Autozone, they will have it.
