BIG TWIN war horse

Got a note from Curt Winter of Big Twin Racers to let me know they finalized prices on their War Horse frame kits. Curt has been working on the War Horse for quite a while, originally building a bike called the Carver which has now evolved into the War Horse and it looks like he has it tweaked just right. Like a lot of us around here, Curt thinks the big American V-twins are a nice high torque engine looking for a sporty frame. Being a hands on kind of guy, he decided to build one.

Curt originally used a solid mount setup but redesigned the frame to use a rubber mounted engine which makes vibration less of a problem for both rider and components. With an aggressive rider position and loads of torque, this could be one sweet machine

According to Curt, the frame kit sells for $5300.00 and consists of frame, swing arm, gas tank and oil tank. The rolling chassis kit is $16,750.00 and consists of frame, swing arm, gas tank, oil tank, Ohlins suspension front and rear, Brembo brakes, radial master cylinder front, cylinder for rear, Black stone tec carbon fiber wheels and either 1 or 2 up seating for the tail section.

If motorcycle companies insist on putting the big twins in cruiser frames and ignore the sporty potential of these engines, smaller builders will do it themselves. Curt looks like he has a nice one here.

It's like the first big us of a chopper kinda thingie i might like...

Actually I really like that look! Sweet looking scoot...although way out of my price range at 17 grand just for a rolling chassis....

Not to detract from what he's done, IMHO, would have been better with a modified V-Rod motor in it.

Pretty Cool Stuff!  I have been waiting to see what they were going to sell that for.  Have you guys seen the Econoclast Hetric model yet?  It is truely a high dollar model ($62,000) but looks to be one hell of a ride, the owner of the company, Don A., is an ex-road racer who is speed crazy.

If you are looking at a performance V-Twin you can not go wrong with a used Hellcat or American GT.  You can usually pick those up around $12 - $16 thousand and beat on the those all day.  I know I only have a 100" S&S engine and the bikes performance still scares the crap out of me.  I have owned much faster bikes, but nothing this brutal!  I wish I knew how to put up pics beacause I would post one for your guys!

Don't have a ton of good pics, so I went to take some last night as some buddies and I went riding.  The wife has our digital camera in NYC?  Here is a pic of her in the garage for the winter.  Looks a bit goofy as it is on the lift, but it will give you a good idea what she is all about.

Info:
2000 Confederate NBF Hellcat
100" S&S Engine, head work and hot cam, Muzzy Exhaust
ISR brakes, 12 pistons on the front (Wave Rotors), 4 on rear (full floating ISR Rotor)
Marchesini Rims, Paoli front forks, Works rear shocks
6 quarts of oil in backbone, down tube and motor
New Hornet Seat (a must for good take offs)

Fun Toy for now.....
