Thank you, Mike Rieck
« on: June 22, 2007, 03:56:06 PM »
Look, if you live in the Boston area, need any assistance with the mechanical aspects of your bike, and don't get in contact with Mike Rieck, you're plain nuts.
Mike has been invaluable to me in getting my old scoot together, and after, gulp, almost 40 years of messing with motorcycles, I can tell a helpful soul from an unhelpful one.
While it's just my $.02, I think there should be a statue for the guy some place so even pigeons can get some help.
Best to all,
Ben Atkins

Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Thanks guys but all I did was a leak down test on Bens' soon to be running 750. There was some other stuff I did (headwork etc) but.....Bens a good guy and good to work with. He was a little worried about compression the other day before firing the engine up and everything checked out OK. I would do the same for any of the guys on this board. Spartys' crank showed up today.....now on to some serious engine building. ;) ;D

I'll bet you're glad you're not still over here Andy, the place is flooded (England) and you now need a licence to wear a sporran (up there) ;D

Thats my weeks work Mike. I need to remove the wheel to change the speedo unit (stripped screw on the current one) and then do valves (already done camchain) - needing synched bad! Was going to retrieve my Morgan carbtunes from Chris sometime this week when I wont melt in the heat.

Sam - yeah i feel for you  ::) I remember back in April you guys were sweltering while I was freezing under my kilt  ;) I saw that story about licenses - whatever will they think of next  ::)...taxing haggis no doubt  :o

keep those wellies on!

I take it you've gone back to work then. You wouldn't believe the rain we have had in the last few days, some places have had a months rain in a few hours. Also the number of tornado photos people have been sending in to the news stations on TV, I lost count how many but none touched down, thankfully.

Yeah, I only ended up being home for just over a week :(

It ended up pretty much being a case of fly home, pay the bar bill for my daughter's birthday bash :o Fly back ::)

I did manage to get some miles under the CB's tyres though ;D And with the new bigger sprocket, the front tyre was covering less miles than the rear :o 8)
