30 year old rims

I notice you guys all seem to replace your rims on your restorations. If the rims are in good physical condition, (by appearances) do you still need to replace? I did a search and someone mentioned they get brittle. Should I redo my rims on my 76 F? 28,000 on the odo.

I still have the original rims on my K5. To me there are three reasons to replace 1) to upgrade to alloy rims,  2) if doing a resto getting nice chrome, and 3) you bent one in a pothole because your streets look like the moon surface.

Original japanese chrome is really kinda shoddy so if your original rims have held up good for you and I don't see any reason to replace them. Also if they check out straight and true why not keep them.

I know plenty of guys when respoking the wheel, if they want black or red rims will just repaint and use the old ones.

Mine have 123,000 on their odo...I had to chisel off the rust inside the beads after it sat 4 years, but the chrome under the rust was decent (big surprise!), and the surface looks good, still round...good for 120+ MPH...
