Would you trust my rectifier?

The last time my bike went for a ride (before the electrical problem put her away for years) my dad took the rectifier out and saw the thing was fried. It got so warm the paint started coming off. He bought a replacement one for it figuring that the old one was no good. Fast forward to today. I found the electrical problem (kill switch) and am beginning to put the bike back together. I would like to put the old rectifier back in because it fits in the compartment nicely whereas the other one (from a 750?) doesn't. I tested both rectifiers as stated in the Honda manual and both checked out fine. So can I trust a rectifier that appears to be fine but just got a little toasty? Am I at risk if I do use it?

If your real short on cash, you have to do what you have to do.  I think it would be best to replace it though.  With the elecrtonics, you can never be to anal.  ;)

If all six individual diodes have equal resistance to each other in both forward and reversed bias, then use it.  Good diodes conduct current one way but not the other.
