HELP! Hub problems!
« on: June 16, 2007, 05:00:32 PM »
For some reason the rear hub on my 78' 750f will not break free?  Any ideas or suggestions?  I've already got spoked wheels(rear had a drum...) in paint and ready to go with new tires and would just like to switch out hubs.

and yes I do have a crappy manual that doesnt offer any ideas. >:( >:( >:( >:(

Looking at the Fiche...

...The rotor bolts to it...and so do the spokes of the wheel...you've already removed the rotor...just unbolt the spokes??
...stock 1972 CB500 '500 Four' undergoing re-assembly...
...Stock 1972 CL450 'Scrambler' also being re-assembled...

Thanks!!!  It would of been nice to have had the fiche in the manual I downloaded earlier.  I've been to busy painting everything and laying up the custom cafe seat to have given it a good once over!

By any chance will this hub, 18" wheel,  fit a earlier 17" spoke wheel?

BTW, why not use the hubs from the spoked rims?  Spacer issue?

Ohhhhh, that make sence.  I think I have an extra break rod (I don't know what its really called).  How hard would it be to convert?

Comstar wheel parts are not usable with spokes, if that's what you're asking. If you want to build a 17" Comstar whell with the hub from an 18" drum brake wheel and the rim and "spokes" from a 17" disc brake wheel (or vice-versa), it might work if the hub diameter is the same. Honda strongly suggests that Comstars are not to be taken apart and reassembled though.

I believe the ID's are the same between rims.  Challenge now is just being able to swap them!  I hate mag style rims(comstar style.)  I really could care less that I'm going from a 18" wheel to a 17".  Just need to figure out how to retain the rear disk.

I used the rear disk/wheel from a 75 CB750F; they're spoked...that is, conventional wire spokes, not the Comstar...   :P

I like spokes...wire spokes...   ;D

I'm young(23 years old) but I'm an old soul.  I've been building vintage BMWs for the longest time and now I'm building this bike(first honda cb I've owned.)
I'll take apart everything today and see what I can do.  Push comes to shove, I'll turn and weld and a plate to mount my disk brake on so it'll fit the spoke wheel.
