My First 750 - the Cherry Bomb
« on: June 19, 2007, 07:24:34 PM »
Well, I did it. I went an hour in the rain, riding my 93 civic with 203,000 miles and bald tires, and looked at my first 750. This thing was immaculate! Apparently this guy builds R/C helicopters - his attention to detail is uncanny. 15,700 miles - Red (what was that color name again?).

Trick he used: Little tiny sandblaster (looked like an airbrush) that got in the nooks and crannies and BLASTED all of the crud away. I've never seen a cleaner motorcycle (in person guys, in person)  that was this old! Here are some pics: (from craigslist, yes i posted earlier asking for advice. I took it)

Auction: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/354376094.html

Asked 1800 - offered 1500 - settled @ 1600. This thing was so nice I almost felt like I was stealing it. I'm absolutely in love.

I've been tinkering with the 75 550 for about 3 or 4 years now... What are some things that I should know about the 750 that are different (except for the obvious stuff)?

Also, my 550 will be up for sale shortly, let me know about that.

This thing is awesome and I haven't even ridden it yet. Picking it up tomorrow. Thanks for reading.

As I said before....looked like a good deal. Most of us buy an old pile of crap for $500.00 and then spend 2 years and $1500-$4000.00 making it look new again.  I would say you got a great deal ;D

I notice it has podfilters, which is fine so do I, but when you pick it up ask him what the size main jets are in the carbs. It will save you tearing them apart in the future to figure it out if you ever have fuel/air issues down the road.  I would take that thing back to stock it is so sweet looking.  But if you do put back the air box the carb jetting question will come in handy.

Good Luck.
Nice Buy!
