cb350 / 4 parts bike
« on: June 20, 2007, 03:03:52 PM »
At the bike graveyard I frequently visit I saw a CB350 4 cylinder. It could be had for not too much money I suspect.

How many were produced? Is that model a particularly scarce one - especially as compared to the larger ones?

1972, 1973, and 1974.

The first picture is me on my brand-new '72.   Serial number CB350F-1000217.
The second picture is my current '73.By then the serial number was up to CB350F-1042883.
That would seem to indicate that at least 42666 of them were brought to the US in the first 2 years.

Boy, I sure have a lot better camera now.

Also, I would trade at least 40 of my current pounds for a new pair of those red/white/blue saddle oxford platform shoes.

I've always wondered how many 350Fs were imported to the US.
I've heard that since they didn't sell well many were sent back to Japan.
I wonder how many we have in the club?
Great pics okie.

Also, kghost, kslrr, wardmoto and I each have 1 (makes 4 more). Doesn't that make about 12 so far? There's probably more. We might be surprised just how many there actually are. ;) 8)

Yep, I've got one.  It's running pretty well at the moment (best it ever has).  Here's a nifty trick - run the outside cylinders with NGK D7EA's, and the inner cylinders with NGK D8EA's.  Don't know why, but it stopped the inner plugs fouling..

Hey, what system is that on the red bike?  I like it!

The first bike I ever worked on was a 74 350F.  I spent months on a frame-up rebuild including new Honda pistons /rings, the worst paint job you've ever seen, learned that torque specs really do mean something, and ended up selling it to my brother for $200 (I was REALLY strapped for cash and living on his couch).  He took it out and dumped it in a ditch the next day.

It's still sitting in our parents garage 2 hours away (I haven't figured out how to get it into mine yet) awaiting a more patient hand to revisit the rebuild, paint, etc.  One day...

I didn't think there were so many of us here.  I'm adding mine to the list!  It leaks oil and blows smoke once it's hot (after 45 minutes of riding or so), but it still starts right up every time and goes 70+ on the freeway.  It's my first bike and I just can't seem to part with it after 6 or 7 years.

That was a great pic of your bike in your living room okie - and the current one has to put up with a garage  :o

I wonder how many 350F's made it into the UK given that they were never an official import. I read a magazine article once that reckoned there may be around 50 in the country in various states of repair (ie some in boxes). I've only ever seen one other one for real, but I've seen articles on at least two others in the country.

I have one torn down to the frame and one frankenbike that is mostly a 350F but has curiously produced a few 360 parts. Both are 73's. They are Pacific Northwest classics so they have some lovely rust in all the fun places. Hoping to get one complete bike from the two. So by my count:

The real question is how many of you still have the stock exhaust? I unfortunately do not although the pipes are still good on both.

I have the complete original exhoaust one mine, still.  with one hole in the number two silencer (lower right tube) underneath between where the headers meet the muffler and where the drain hole is.
Damn drain hole isn't at the lowest point of the exhaust! >:(

I have the stock header pipes but non-stock 4-4's, I happen to know that the stock end cans were thrown into a skip in Cheyenne in 1994(ish)!!

Well, it looks like I'll be picking up that CB350 this week; the guy who is selling all those bikes called me and said that if I would haul 4 dirt bikes to Ft Worth for him, he'd let me pick out 2 or 3 bikes.

I told him I wanted all the SOHC 4 Hondas in the yard, so I will have to make up the difference with some $. He has at least one or two 750s, a couple 550s, one 350 and maybe a 650 as well.

But as I have said in here already, they are all in serious need of replacement parts and major TLC. But that never stopped us did it?  :-\
