Hello.
I am from Rogers, MN (thats about 30 min north of Minneapolis) and I ride a 1977 CB750F Super Sport.
I traded a 1984 Honda Shadow 700 that was given to me, for this bike in the dead of winter, so I have been finding out all of its flaws as the riding season goes on.
When I got it, one of the spark plug caps had a crack in it, so it would arc out the side and short. Replaced all the caps and put in new plugs.
Then I got stuck in the rain with it. It does not like the rain. I am still troubleshooting that issue. It will start, but it will die pretty quickly after that. It is not a sudden death, more like it just putters out and quits. I can restart the bike again, but the bike will die again. I can keep it running for the most part if I keep the throttle open about 1/4 of the way, but it will eventually die again. This has been a huge headache.
In the process of trying to figure out the rain issue, I discovered that the first cylinder was not working properly. A lot of frustration and troubleshooting led me to the carbs, and I discovered that the float had been installed upside down. Flipped it over, and it was working.
I replaced the brake pads in the front and back.
I replaced the ignition switch. That one was a sudden death while riding. The switch was cracked badly, and the connections were loose and would not stay connected.
I replaced the push and pull throttle cables. The pull cable broke while I was riding.
I am still in the process of slowly but surely fixing it up. It is always an adventure riding it.
