My pretty turquoise cb836k2 was STOLEN
« on: June 21, 2007, 07:20:03 PM »
Hi guys,

Yesterday morning my bike was stolen, and this afternoon, the police found it stashed in some bushes next to a house.

In one day the @#@%#% painted my pretty paint job FLAT GRAY overspraying half the D#@# bike.
removed (and is probably selling on ebay) the left sidecover, all emblems, and Rhonda's back rest/sisy bar accessory, and ripped the #$%* out of my wiring.

Now the police have handed it over to the tow company who wants to charge me $150 plus storage charges  for however long it takes me to be able to afford to pay them.

THAT SUCKS!

I am now in the situation that I have a bike to which I have done lots of work, but now requires a significant amoutn of work to be safely usable, at a time when I just don;t have the time or money to fix it.

its got the wiseco 836kit and the bigger carbs and the gerex electronic ignition, and the cb900 coils, and has run so great for me these last few years.  but now it looks liike #$%* and doesn't run, so I can't even get a decent amount of money for whats left.

I told the police that with all the work he had done on the bike, there is probably a print ot two there.  He said that they weren't going to try for prints because thia wasn't a murder or anything like that.  Which seems to say to me that if you see a pretty bike, go ahead and take it, because they aren't goign to "waste" money trying to apprehend you.

thanks for listening to me vent.

Man, that SUX! Glad you can get it back, though.

I don't have much in the way of spare parts but if you need anything, let me know and if I have it I'll send it your way.

Not to hijack your thread, but my story was a little different.  While on vacation, our house was broken into.  Twice.  The second time, they caught the kids, with evidence up the wazoo.  Including rubber gloves, which they also have on video, them shoplifting the gloves from the local drug store.  With all that, the cops still felt the need to fingerprint my entire house, even though they knew they weren't going to find any prints.

In addition, they missed the peice of paper that had our contact information for our trip.  And I came home to find our house torn to shreds, and NOTHING from the police.  And when I called them, they couldn't tell me anything, I had to wait 2 hours for a cop to show up to tell me what happened.

Cops.

I hope your bike makes it home soon.

Adam,

I really hate it for you man, but look at the bright side... at least you're getting your bike back and it's not in the hands of some punk who is going to abuse and trash it or sell it for parts.

Obviously it would better if it would never have been stolen, but it could have been far worse (i.e. gone forever).

Do you have any pictures of it?  Maybe some members here might see some of the stuff missing show up on ebay.

Yes, do that. There are enough of us with ears that we can put to the ground that maybe something will show up.

Sorry to hear that your project is gonna start over. Let that anger drip all over that scooter man, and make it what you wanted it to be if you had to start over again. Then let firecracker track down the criminals for a little Single Over Head Clubing action...

I feel for you over this Adam and hope you get it back to Its former glory again.
I imagine the problem over fingerprints is that it would only prove who had touched the bike which is no proof of who stole it and wrecked it.

Same thing happen to me, except the bike was recovered in kept in storage for two weeks. The cops and tow company knew it was my bike, but never called. 2 weeks later, (after it was recovered) the towing company calls and says they have my bike, but it's going to cost me 700.00$ to recover for storage costs. The bike was stripped and banged up, I told them to keep it.

Tow companies are criminals.

Hell yes the're criminals, in cahoots with the cops.  >:(   What the hell sense does it make for a wrecking yard to hold on to ones property if they know who it belongs to.  They should give it back, and not at the owners expence.  WTF! It's like they're doing us a favor.  Sh!t pisses me off to no end.

There's no justice, it's just us.

I agree with Boatsdickson it's Single Over Head Clubbin' time!

in case anyone sees it on ebay, here's the main identifiable part they got away with.

Rhonda is pissed because that was HER seat.

I will talk to the tow company this morning and see what they have to say.

thanks for the support guys,

Adam

Write a letter to the local paper and complain that the police department that you and everyone else employ are refusing to attempt to catch a thief and how bad crime is these days. See what happens then.

Hope all turns out well.

I think you got the wrong person if your talking about Rhonda selling you the sissy bar, seat job.  Rhonda is my bikes name/screen name.  My real name is Paul.  I've had a lot of confusion with that in the past, to the dissapointment of the male members thinking I'm a chick. ;D
But alas, I am all that is man.

Still pissed for you though! >:(

Whew! Sure am glad you cleared that up Paul/Rhoda.

I know how it feels to have a bike stolen and the cops will do nothing about it:
especially when the theif is a former State Policeman.

Hey Dude, at least you got it back. When the subject comes up at meets you
will have a better story to tell, non?

Let us know what ya need.  I can't offer to shoot anyone (police included) but I may be able to help you out with some parts.

Like someone else said, post pics of both before & after and if the parts hit ebay we will know about it.

I have a sissy bar sort of like that one. Since my wife got her own bike I haven't used it since. If you need a replacement I could part with it.

You will have to keep on ebay hard. Listings have no set time limit and could be a little as even 1 day I think. As soon as you see it, you will want to notify ebay that it is a stolen part. For there you can notify police and they might be able to get the parts back. Maybe. Or you might, if nothing else, be able to bid and get the parts back and while yet another ass chap, you might then be able to score the address of the asshat who stole you bike and give him a good mafia beating.

thanks for the support guys.

I will be talking to the owner of the tow company on Wednesday (when he gets back from the races) to see if he will work with me as there is no way I can catch up to 160 + $30 day storage fees...   cant afford the 160 and the fees keep racking it higher!

depending on what he is willing to do for me, may just tell them to keep it, as I don't have several hundred dollars in disposable income to get it back.

When I think about it I just get depressed and angry.  first the crap head who stole it screws me, then the police, who are supposed to support me, take their turn screwing me as well.  Maybe I should be going for rape counseling...

I am just going to let it go until I talk to the owner Wednesday.  supposedly he has a soft spot for folks who are "down and out"...
