I've got an extra right control assembly that you're welcom to if you decide to keep her and do the repairs.  Just let me know.

Man what a deal. A few #$%*s mess with your scooter, but the rest of the village steps up and offers parts, help, knowledge, labor, etc... This strenghthens my opinion of our little disfunctional family here.

Couldn't agree more...unfortunately I am not in a position to offer any parts due to the fact that I haven't been at this game nearly as long as some but it never fails to impress me how good the guys (and gals) on this site are when it comes to ante'ing up for a brother...Good on ya guys...

Adam,
I'm with TT and the other guys on this one. I think your nice paint can be brought back to the light of day with very little work. That grey primer will come off very easily with a citrus based cleaner I've used in the past with great results. Check out citra-solv. Maybe in a diluted form at first on a test spot. Use special care around plastic stuff until you see how well it works.

Don't get rid of the bike!!! Don't cave in to the evel bast#rds.

I'm only 3-4 hours away. I can cruse up there one weekend and give you a hand. No worries man. With just a little work she'll be good as new.

Give it some thought.

email me.

Adam,

I understand your busy, but you have fellow SOHC brothers coming to your aid; that means the world dude; priceless.

Buff the primer off, use enamel thinner to test a small area and the other poss would be laquer but in either case, bring her back to life. Send a story into the local paper---when the law offers no solution, friends step in from all over the country to rebuild a dream.

For those who have offered parts and labor, pat yourselves on the back, I am by far very impressed. Adam, when opportunity knocks, you answer the door.

Adam, if you need to replace the missing sidecover, I'll have an extra soon I can send you.

Any word on your decision, Adam?  I'm hoping we'll get some good news :)

Hey Adam, I hope you haven't disposed of her yet. You know, decisions made under duress are often not the best. Why don't you keep it a few months longer and then decide what to do with it? It won't be worth nearly as much for sale as it would be if you were to decide to bring her back to life sometime later on.

Also, I agree with the suggestions for getting a lawyer; however, there is something easier you can do if you want the investigation opened up. File a complaint. Write up a letter detailing what happened step-by-step. Keep all emotion out of your letter (this is key) except for the last paragraph where you explain how much you were (additionally) emotionally hurt after feeling violated by the theft of a motorcycle that was more than just a possession....

Send the letter to the P.D. and cc anyone you can possibly think of. I'd include the city council, mayor, state legislator & senator and US representative, the state police and anyone else I could think of. What happens is that the P.D. usually cannot file your letter away because too many eyes are watching. Once paperwork is started, it has to go through several steps before it can be filed away. At a minimum, someone would need to review your case, and were it I, I would insist that the investigator not be from the local P.D.

One other thought: See if you can check on stolen vehicle records for your area during the past year. Your case would be hugely helped if a bunch of other bikes have been stolen.

It has worked for me. My complaint had to be investigated by the commander of the SP in the next county.

Listen to these guys Adam.......I think they offer sound advice. Remember.....the squeaky wheel gets the grease!!!!! You were violated and should be entitled to some kind of compensation. If you let it go.......so will the people that are paid to do something about it. Keep us informed.

I like to believe that bad things happen to bad people. Hope this guy gets his ass handed to him somewhere down the line.

I know this doesn't help right now Adam, but there is ALWAYS an equalizer.

Bummer man. At least you got it back though. Despite the stupid fees. Can you take that guy to court or something?

Time to go over to that guys house with some friends and crow-bars and get your paintjob back.
