i've spent a lot of time with the 350 twins, and of course the fours, but this is my first cb450 ('74).
when cleaning the carbs, i discovered that the pilot jets don't seem to have an orifice in the float bowl. there are two holes beneath the threads (above in a gravity sense) that look like emulsion holes, and then the hole at the top where the fuel enters the throat. my usual experience with pilot jets (as with the 350, 400, 500, 550,650, and 750) is that the fuel passageway is a straight shot through, with air-emulsion holes in the middle. though i've rebuilt a thousand cb350 carbs, the functionings of all of the inner passageways on these 450 CV carbs are a bit of a mystery at the moment. am i wrong and there is in fact a plugged hole in the slotted end of the jet? it really appears to be solid brass. or does the pilot circuit somehow pull fuel from somewhere else?
