point gap setting

Hey guys. I installed new condensers and points on my 750k6 the other week and just got around to checking the timing with a gun. The f2-3 mark lines up nicely but the f1-4 jumps all over the place when lined up. I re-gaped the points several times, strobing it afterwards with the same results. Valves are within spec, carbs rebuilt-synced and motor revs nicely. Any ideas why the F1-4 mark would jump back and forth? thanks.

No one has any ideas huh? Forgot to ad that the left point, although new, does not seat perfectly. There is some play in the top part of the mechanism.

That could be your problem. Who made the points you are using? They cost more, but I would go with Honda points if they are not OEM.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Could be the points plate, also.  And I agree with Bob, stock is trick.  And in the case of points, it's still available.
