New from the Steel City (Pittsburgh)
« on: June 21, 2007, 08:08:43 PM »
Hello TSOC4 members,

I have been reading the forums and figured I might as well join and say "Hello". I am new to riding and my first bike is 79' CB650. It is in great shape and I am trying to keep it that way.  That is why I am reading the forums to learn some tips and tricks on keeping it mint for years to come. I also picked up a CB750 DOHC that is a basket case and I am debating on whether to fix it to stock, make an old school chopper, or just cut my loses and part it out. Well that is for a diffrent forum though.

Good to see another of us around here.  I'm new to riding as well, and I'm restoring/modding a 77 CB550.  Where in the city do you live?

When I got my 550, it was a total rustbucket.  Been sitting in a yard for a year, painted a horrendous lime green, etc.  Right now, I've got it stripped to the frame to paint it, and then I've just gotta put it back together again and rewire it while waiting to get the money together to do the tank paint and probably a few other little mods here and there.  I've got plans to do a cafe seat, and probably a dual-disc conversion.  After that, who knows?  My girlfriend is trying to buy a Yamaha RD350 at the moment, so we'll be worrying about her bike, too.

If you're ever around Squirrel Hill and want to check out my project, let me know.  I'd be interested in yours as well.

I just drove through Squirrel Hill today, shame I didn't get this earlier.  My 750 was auppose to be "Garage Kept", so I fixed this guys whole family's PC's as a trade since he lost his job.  That guy was a "Friend" I worked with him for years.  I get there to pick up my new bike and take it to the shop to get inspected to ride it.  I haven't really figured out if I want to go Cafe, or Old School Bobber style so it is just sitting there till my money and decision comes together. I am getting pictures of my 650 together now so I should have some soon to show everybody.

Hi fellow Pittsburgher, welcome to the club.
Sounds like a nice bike, how does it run?
I live in Jefferson Hills and work not far from you in Emsworth.

Thnaks Keiths, not to familiar with Jefferson Hills but know exactly where Elmsworth is.  My 650 runs like brand new after having the carbs cleaned and the front brake rebuilt. Is your profile picture your bike?  That is a very nice looking machine if it is. I had an incident today that is making me sick to my stomach.  My neighbor came over in a panic and told me my 650 had fallen over.  I went and picked it up to find both front and rear right hand side turnsignals were broken.  I am not sure what happened but I know somebody was screwing around. I have parked my bike there for 2 years without a problem and all of a sudden it falls over no way. Needless to say I was sick to my stomach, thank god that is all that broke though.

Yes, thats mine. It won BOTM for March this year.
Sorry about your accident. Provably kids. The signals shouldn't be too hard to replace.
Once its fixed you'll feel better.
