74 CB550?

Were there K and F models in 1974? Do they both have the same master cylinder?

No F Model in '74, the 550F came out in 1975.  Not sure about master cylinder compatibility.

I would allow that as long as it is single to single caliper or dual on dual you'll be okay, most were nissan round ones to my knowledge(limited)...

I"m no expert either but I would agree with your statement. I currently have a cb750 MC on my single caliper bike and it works like crap since it was made for duel rotors. I just found another MC that needs rebuilt for $20. I hope I didn't get ripped off!  :o
