A very special day
« on: June 25, 2007, 03:06:59 PM »
Today has been a very special day for me. It has been a long time since I was looking for some time to pay a visit to my childhood school. Ten years ago I went there and could visit the only teacher remaining from my school days. His name was Angel Sacristan, and he was always one of my favourite teachers, somebody for whom I felt love and respect.

I wondered what could have happened to him, wether he would have moved to another school or even retired. As the schools are out for vacation, but I know teachers must still go to finish the paperwork and tidy the classrooms up for the september restart, there I went and there he was. He couldn't remember my name but he remembered me and my schoolmates, as well as some situations and anecdotes. When I gave him a copy of the whole class photo he remembered many other things, as well as some other people that he had forgotten. He even remembered the visit I paid him ten years ago and how I told him I was an engineer.

For a couple of hours we have been chatting about life, education, dreams and illusions. It has been very special for me and he was indeed very pleased too. Every of his colleagues we met on the corridors he would say :"listen, this was a pupil of mine and now he is an engineer", kind of proud. And he showed the photo to everybody too, that freaked out after seeing how young was him, as all of them joined the school long after I left. We have exchanged adresses and phone numbers and have promised to be in touch, and have had some pictures taken.

These pictures are 25 years apart. Life is too short indeed.....  :)

That's great, Raul. How many people can look back on their school years, and particular teachers, with fond memories?
