While I've never actually seen one, I have heard of them. Not really high on diesel anything myself. I'd lot rather see the Royal Enfield with a 500cc Gas engine. If I've got an engine with a rattle and/or a knock, there's gonna be something wrong with it. I'd prefer a 750cc Interceptor, if I had my if I had my choice.

This topic has been dealt with here before. Don't be fooled by diesel engines; I've seen one in a magazine with a turbo diesel engine and the performance was outstanding.

Seems that every try of diesel bikes has been over a Royal Enfield bike. My theory is that India is the only place where those diesel bikes would have any chance, not only for their frugality but also because they can run in almost any kind of oil, something very important in a country were gas stations are far between and it is important to provide a cheap running transportation.

Bill, back in the 70's i stood in a "cave" with about 40-50 Rickman interceptors in various states of completion---I often kick several parts of myself for not having bought one, but the 59 T110 was draining cash at the time.

"Royal ENFIELD Diesel have a max speed of 62mph .... but only 1liter for 70km"

Really? I could believe the second part, but the first sounds like a bit of a stretcher. How long could it hold that 62mph without grenading?

Here's one that sounds a bit more plausible......
http://west.gian.org/node/165
"Description:

The innovator has developed a unique, lightweight and compact 3.5 HP, single cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine with many significant facets. It is compact, portable, powerful, lightweight and affordable diesel engine with varied applications. The engine was mounted on a Rajdoot motorcycle, which achieved an average speed of 55 km per hour and fuel consumption of 100 km per liter."

An average of 55kmh sounds a lot more realistic.

So, I guess you could get more underpowered, but not by much.

Danged crazy furriners..

Happy trails.
