Electric Motorcycle ?!?
« on: July 10, 2007, 02:19:55 PM »
http://autos.msn.com/advice/article.aspx?contentid=4024869

Sorry - haven't been able to post pictures for a few days (forum issues - or just me?).

IMHO: very quiet = dangerous.

...but then again, with windows up and stereo blasting (or cell phone glued to ear) can anyone hear us anymore?

Edit: We are having some pic posting issues, but you can still reference an image hosted elsewhere, hope you don't mind the intrusion.

Kinda riding the fence (no pun intended) on this subject. I saw the article today and thought that it would be kinda cool, but like all "all electric" vehicles this prolly won't catch. It IS too quiet to ride in an urban setting and without much HP its gonna be hard to get away from the SUV's here in Los Angeles. Plus how are you gonna get your hands dirty if you don't have oil to change ?!?!

Hope they improve on it though, maybe they'll come out with some sort of hybrid hog

Eco or not, I'd want a whole lot more bike for $15k. This is like a toy for rich kids who want to prove how earth friendly they are...

There's one I saw on TV (Discovery Channel) that is built on a Harley frame, goes to 80MPH with a range of 50 miles.  I forget what they called it, or the show for that matter.  The show was about this group of New Zealanders Traveling around the US.  One guy rides 3 electric bikes: An electric bicycle, an electric scooter, and that Harley, all recharged by alternative methods- solar, windmills, and yes,Methane powered generators.  His support group follows him in bio-iesel powered vehicles.

Edit:  I found it.  It's called the Electric Cruiser built by a bio-diesel firm Vogelbilt.

Then there's one I really can't remember the name of.  It's a electric dirt bike that for about 20 minutes will seriously compete with 125s!
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Well drop away from the carbon fiber upgrade, then you would only pay $12k....

Half the fun of riding my bike is hearing and feeling the engine.

Put the wheels out of balance and make really loud "Vroom, Vroom" noises. ;D ;D
