Thanks for the nomination. This bike has a good story behind it, a good friend out-of-state told me about it, and another close bro delivered it on Christmas eve at midnight to a bar in my neighborhood! It was a little rough but had no mechanical issues, and the original nuts and #8 bolts were all present and accounted for. Restoring it went very smooth and pretty quick (3 months start to finish). My goal was to make it look like a really clean unrestored CB750. All the candy gold bodywork is real nice used factory Honda paint, as is all the chrome, fasteners, frame paint, seat, early wheels, suspension, etc. Nothing is overdone, everything looks even. You can bet your boots everything is correct, too for an early sandcast (yes, I know candy gold ain't original to a production sandcast, but I like the uniqueness and it looks pretty nice). The engine covers refinishing was a little perplexing; I didn't want them to look restored to new, I wanted a nice patina, so I stripped the covers, etched them w/ acid, polished them w/ 000 steel wool and penetrol (but didn't use polish paste, which would have made them too shiny). I then cleared them w/ Eastwoods. They go nicely w/ the rough sandcast cases and the overall patina on the motorcycle. Its a pretty good runner and will do an honest 120 mph.
