ANY DUCATI MONSTER OWNERS ON HERE ????
« on: July 03, 2007, 06:19:26 AM »
Morning...

As the topic states I am curious to see how many users of this site are also Ducati Monster owners..
It is looking very good that I will be the new owner of a 2007 S2R1000 within the next few weeks, and wanted to get some feedback from people who allready own these beasts of bikes. I was all about getting a Paul Smart limited edition but the Monster is so much more comfortable, and is s two seater (if need be ;D)
So if you guys could, speak the truth about your experiences with these bikes.
Good - Bad - Other - Etc (I wanna hear it all...)

Two of my buddies ride these. They love them. Bit expensive if you need any work done. I've been on them a few times, always feels like getting on a plastic toy after coming off the cb750. Fast as stink no doubt about that. Everyone I know who gets a Duck loves it. Personally I'd go with the Paul Smart but thats just because of the retro look.

I think you would be alot better off with this in the garage!!! ;D

Went to the local Ducati shop this past weekend for their unvieling of this bike......absolutely beautiful. They were supposed to have demo rides, but they only had one bike and it was sold.....I was pissed!! I can honestly say....this is the first new bike to come out in awhile, that has made me say.....DAM I WANT ONE! :o

Check out some of the vids(Hypermotard) on youtube showing this bike....amazing. This bike looks sooooo much better in person.

I got to sit on one of those at my dealer last weekend.
Def. feels nice, and from what I have heard is a death trap on two wheels (for how fast/light it is)..
Def. a cool bike, but I think I am gonna stick with my custom/streetfighter monster idea (oh yes, I am gonna start tearing into my brand new bike the minute I get it home  ;D)

Never ridden one...but seen them in action.  They're nice bikes - light and torquey.  Just be prepared for the cost of some of the parts and modifications.  Unless you're set on a new one you might do better to find one with some mods already as a starting point.

This one is on Ebay right now with probably an extra 3K in goodies on it and good service history.  It will probably sell for around $5,000.

Check out these guys --->
http://www.arcfabrication.com/exhaustvideoclips.html
They make some WICKED (and expensive) exhaust setups for these bikes..
I am pob. gonna fab up my own. Why pay someone $1200+ for an exhaust I can have made for just the
price of parts ?

I want this bike to sound like a big block chevy coming down the street  ;D

Because if it sounded like a Mopar it wouldnt be coming down the street, it would be broken on the side of the road Duster !

My old round case 750GT will have to do, I could sell it and buy a monster and pocket some
change but my cousin would kill me. Besides the round case motor is a work of art that even
the new Ducks can't match.  ;D ;D

Pro,

In 1998 I bought my buddy's Monster from him.  It was a 1997 M750.  I loved it while I had it.  Very comfortable, very light, very good shocks, very loud with an aftermarket exhaust, very easy to ride on one wheel  ;D   I bought the bike for $5500 and sold it for $6100.  All I did was clean it up and I beat the hell out of it.  That poor clutch.... ;)

This coming Saturday me and my bud Danny are gonna go make some poor salesperson's life hell. If you guys dont know I am a salesman by trade, so when I go to buy something I def. dont make it easy. Stuff like free maintence, maybe some free/half price slip on's, etc are def. gonna be part of the "deal"  ;D. When I bought my 2002 Ford Excursion I got so much stuff "included" in the deal the salesman actually got fired a week later when the manager found out..

So I am going for a black Monster S2R1000 (about 98% sure).
