Restoration of a 1978 CB750 F2
« on: April 07, 2005, 04:55:38 AM »
G/Day Everyone. For the past 18 mths I have been restoring an F2. The bike is now registered and I am riding it every couple of days. I would like to thank you all for your help. I will continue to visit this web site and try and help others when I can. I have set up a web site showing a pictorial progress of my project. The link is:

If you wish to comment please feel free to do so. Thanks, Pat

Great looking bike, Pat.  I guess you'll be wanting to get in on the contest for the MOST beautiful F2 now.  It's too bad that we can't all get together for an F2 ride.

G/Day again. Thanks for your comments. The bike will look better when I get the exhaust rechromed. Raymond, the frame No. is CB750G-1015207 and the engine No. is CB750E-2615475 and the manufacture date is Jul 78. The paint is from DUPONT and is called R518P Radiant Ruby Effect P4638 - I am reading this info from the 2003 DUPONT colour chart for HONDA motor vehicles. I choose this colour after trying in vain to find a sample of the original colour so that the painter could match it. I since been able to find a sample - there is an obvious difference when I hold the sample against my bike but I like the colour that I have choosen better. Thanks, Pat from Australia.

Thanks for the tip about the carbon. I will obtain quotes first. You don't get much change out of $2000.00 AU for a complete new system here in Australia - that's for a genuine 410 system.

Hi, Chris.

Yup, we were there, but we flew in, didn't ride.  I would have been on a ZRX otherwise.. :D  Did see a few sohc's there, and got some compliments on my SOHC4 t-shirt.

But no, it's not together yet.  Basement project got in the way, still have to get a head redone for it, and cylinders honed.  Valve springs, piston rings, paint the frame, paint the gas tank, etc, etc....  sigh...

Pat, your 750F looks great! There are more than a few of us here that KNOW that the F2/F3 bikes are the best looking of all SOHC4's, of course they also run the best!

Once I get mine finished we'll have to meet up for an F2 ride.

Thanks for the comments. I had forgotten that I had started this post back in April I think. I saw the heading and thought "someone else is restoring an F2 - I better take a look". Alex, it may be a bit difficult for us to meet up for a ride - I live in Nth Qld Australia - but thanks for the offer. The F2 was not a big seller here in Australia but I my eyes they are quite an attractive bike.
